Mérida is the largest city in the Mérida, Mexico is the largest city in the Yucatan. It’s a delightful town and there are many fun things to do in the city. The city gives a European feel, yet Mérida is still very much Mexico with Mayan and Yucatan characteristics.

historians from the world consider Merida, the oldest continually occupied
city.

happens around February or March every year, which is now held at the X’matkuil
Fairgrounds, rather than its former location along the Paseo de Montejo. There
is shuttle service everywhere.
4. A unique experience of Pok Ta Pok
The Maya played a
game called Pok-ta-too. It was a ball game, the ball they used was a five-pound
solid rubber ball. It is their most famous game, which is thought to have been
invented around 2000 BCE. Pok-A-Tok was played in teams of one or two players in
every major Maya city.
5. The mesmerizing cruise - Paseo de Montejo, Merida
You can’t come to
Merida without cruising up the grand Paseo de Montejo. How you experience the
Paseo de Montejo is entirely dependent on you. You can just walk it one way. And
you may also consider experiencing the Paseo de Montejo by car, horse &
carriage, or bicycle while returning.

Catedral de San Ildefonso, Casa de Montejo, Museo Fernando García Ponce-Macay
are some popular and must visit monuments or buildings. You’ll find beautiful
and eccentric artwork on both permanent and temporary display which will
connect you to the grand history.
8. Dancing in the Streets of Merida
The best part of
Merida is there’s always something going on every night. The most popular and
loved event is dancing on the streets. Stages are erected in the plazas and
free concerts take place, all kind of music, both traditional festive song
& dance, as well as the modern pop music, takes place. Street performers
also come out to play and dance. Salsa music begins from a bar and people in
the streets tend to spontaneously break into dance.
9. Eat as much as you can
Eating is a thing to
do here! The vast range of food and a unique taste makes the local food
popular. Cochinita pibil, Sopa de Lima, Poc-Chuc, Queso Relleno are some
Yucatecan dishes to try.
