1. It’s very crowded, outsmart the crowd
Rome is always flooded with tourists. So the best thing to do is plan your visits properly. Try some odd hacks like visiting the place at the odd time, or before closing or just skip visiting that place completely. Avoid some must-see places even if you have to, as going to a place and stuck yourself in between thousands of people will make no sense at all.
2. Visit lesser known places in Rome
Traveling is never about finishing a checklist of the popular place. If you travel like this then try a different way this time. Stay with locals, explore their routine by spending the day with them. You will go very close to the actual culture. Popular places should be visited but there are many places in Rome, which are at the bottom or not on the list but worth a visit.
3. Don’t go to tourist restaurants
Food in Italy is absolutely delicious, but don’t just assume it will be the same everywhere you go. The best tip is to avoid crowded tourist cafes and restaurants. Rather try where locals prefer to eat.

4. Visit Rome in Spring
May - September is said to be the best time to visit Rome. Weather condition and all the points are very much in favor this span of time. But it is extremely crowded at the same time. I would say May, June, July can be good months as in summer it becomes unbearably hot.
5. Comfortable clothing
Forget about all the ‘Italy is all about looking stylish and taking cool pictures’. Any tourist destination is, but the distances in Rome are very big and you will be walking a lot. I highly recommend a comfortable outfit and especially lightweight shoes.
6. Rent a vehicle
We got this advice from a fellow traveler. I really admired his piece of small advice changed our whole experience. We were 6 in all, so we rented 3 bikes. It added so much fun and adventure and also helped to reach to the places faster. If you want to explore more of Rome and discover some of the less known hidden gems, then renting a bike will be the best experience.
